Tarja Krum is the Sustainability Manager at Finlands Svenska Idrott (the Swedish Sports Federation in Finland), where she leads initiatives focused on equality, safe sports, good governance, the environment, and anti-doping. She has spearheaded projects promoting inclusion, supporting migrant and LGBTQIA+ participation in sports, facilitating integration through sports, and building a sustainability network for sports clubs. In her role, Tarja has also organized national and international events, such as the Let’s Be Better seminar, and has educated sports professionals at all levels on topics like equality and inclusion.
Tarja is the Chair of the ENGSO EWS Committee, a role she has held since 2024. She joined the committee in 2022 and became Vice-Chair in 2023, coordinating activities and developing strategies for equality and inclusion in sports.
With a diverse background in sports, Tarja has experience as an athlete, coach, board member, and regional federation manager in orienteering. Currently, she is dedicated to competing in ice swimming.
Additionally, Tarja has a background in being involved in various sports committees and associations, including the National Judo Federation of Finland’s Ethical Committee, the International Ice Swimming Association AGE Committee, and the Finnish Orienteering Coach Association. She holds a Master’s degree in Sports Studies from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, where she specialized in promoting the conditions of women and girls in sports and integrating insights from gender studies into sports. She has also completed the International Olympic Committee’s Safeguarding Officer in Sport Certificate program.
